| Some sections in my storyboard are accompanied by brief explanations of what camera angles, shots and effects will accompany the visuals on screen. |
Now I have gathered and planned various ideas which I can include in my music video, I have come to the point where I can start putting those ideas to paper and start drawing my storyboard. However, the storyboard process has differed slightly from AS - for my music video, I have had to create an animatic storyboard as opposed to what I completed last year which was just drawing the intended visuals and taking a photo of the final product and uploading it onto my blog with a brief description of the task.
Producing an animatic requires a greater amount of detail artistically and also in terms of the explanation; for example, on some of the shots I have accompanied them with a brief description of what camera angles, shots and movements will be included in that particular shot. For instance, one of the shots is captioned with "Focus pull".
I also have to consider that I will be editing my storyboard to the song "Selfies", so throughout the process I must keep in mind where to place certain shots in the song if I want them to be cut to the beat or suit the song thematically. Below is an animatic for "Feel Good" by Gorillaz which is a perfect demonstration and example of a well executed animatic. Although my artistry will not match the quality of that in the animatic for "Feel Good", I hope to take inspiration from it and emulate its professionalism.
The photos above represent a part of the process toward finishing my storyboard, and being able to move onto editing the images together in Adobe Premiere Pro. The next step will be to complete all of the drawings and take photos of the final product.
